ABOUT OUR PROJECT

There are four partner schools participating in this project:

  1. Gymnazium Frýdlant nad Ostravicí, the Czech Republic

  2. IES Escultor Juan de Villanueva, Spain

  3. Lycée Toulouse-Lautrec, France

  4. Neue Friedländer Gesamtschule, Germany

In this project in the first place we want to raise awarness of new modern technologies and make the robotics available to pupils and teachers. We also want to help students to be prepared for high demands of the modern society. Then we also hope to achieve other following objectives concerning both pupils and teachers: broaden basic skills, improve language skills through real communication situations, learn self-reliance, learn new ways of thinking, learn how to link knowledge with all subjects and practice, raise awarness of university studies, technical jobs and developed technologies in research centres and universities, through experiments and workshops remember more and understand science better, learn about diversity of cultures within the European Union and share it with the others, compare different teaching and learning methods within the European Union countries and become familiar with new teaching and learning methods.

Schools will be able to include robotics into IT or/and include robotics as a vocational subject into school curriculum, integrate English into teaching science (CLIL), include cross-curricular instruction among multiple subjects and raise awarness of Erasmus+ and eTwinning projects, motivate teachers to study English and participate in KA1 Erasmus+ projects (mobilities and job-shadowing) and continue in cooperation with universities.

As far as project activities participants of this project will:

  • read books about robots (Isaac Asimov: I, Robot and Karel ÄŒapek: R.U.R.), work on eTwinning projects based on reading

  • look for the information and prepare presentations on how robots are used in various scientific fields

  • prepare presentations about each school´s country, culture and teaching physics, IT and math

  • work on project tasks related to modern technologies and robotics (e.g. coding, programming, working with 3D printer or Vernier experiments, computer graphics) and make presentations and video records

  • write short science-fiction stories individually or in groups in each school, illustrate them and share at eTwinning platform

We plan to organize four short-term exchanges of pupils, five long-term study mobilities of pupils and one transnational kick-off project meeting.

At the transnational kick-off project meeting in Germany participating teachers will discuss and agree on the detailed schedule and activities in each country in person. Then the detailed schedule will be fitted into the schools work plan.

Each partner school will organize one short-term exchange of pupils in the duration of 5 days with participation of 7 pupils and 2 teachers from each country. At these meetings participants will show prepared presentations, attend workshops focused on robotics, modern technologies and art and visit university research centres and companies using robots in manufacturing.

Results of all the meetings will be recorded and uploaded at eTwinning journal, dissemination activities will be done and results from the whole project will be uploaded to the European Shared Treasure platform.

As far as long-term study mobility each school recieves one or two foreign students from partner schools who will work on tasks related to robotics and/or science subjects. Moreover they will improve their language skills (both English and second language).

When the project is completed, we hope to have produced: educational materials: (1) information about the use of robots and robotics in various scientific fields, (2) information about technical jobs for our students in general, (3) information about teaching physics, math and technology in participating schools (countries), (4) collection of science-fiction stories written in English by our pupils, (5) art work connected with science-fiction literature, (6) particular pupils project work (e.g. pdf document, powerpoint or prezi presentation).

We envisage the following impact: development in various transversal skills and cultural knowledge, increase the awarness of robotics and modern technologies, raise motivation for science subjects, acquisition of new teaching methods and increase interest in our schools.

KA2 - Cooperation for innovation and
     the exchange of good practices
  • Project Title: Exceptional Technique in Everyday Issues and More

  • Project Start Date 01-09-2016

  • Project End Date 31-12-2018

  • Project Total Duration 28 months

Project Summary

This project is focused on the topic of robotics and modern technologies. The choice of this topic is relatively clear and was supported mainly by the fact that the world around us is rapidly changing and is full of new modern technologies.

Based on it we think that it is necessary to provide students as well as teachers with new information, knowledge and skills in this area as it is not commonly a part of high schools curriculum. At the same time the project is focused on improvement of English language and its integration into science subjects.
